Specialist for hygiene and environmental medicine

Prof. Dr. med. Axel Kramer, specialist for hygiene and environmental medicine, has been heading the Institute for Hygiene and Environmental Medicine at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University Greifswald since 1990. In this position he unites his teaching with research and the hygienic care of the University Hospital Greifswald. He is a founding member and president of the “German Society for Hospital Hygiene” (DGKH) and a member of the commission “Hospital Hygiene and Infection Prevention at the Robert Koch Institute”.
His core tasks include:
 
• Hospital Hygiene
• Antimicrobial agent research
• Medical significance of thiocyanate
• Relative importance of the environmental medicine for the community medicine.

 
Prof. Dr. med. Kramer works as an important counselor on the field of hygiene and environmental medicine for the International Institute for Health Economics, especially if the assessment of innovations is about aspects of sustainability or future-proof development and resource conservation as well as about the theory and practice of hospital hygiene with the focus on antisepsis.

Prof. Kramer has registered 52 patents in the field of scientific research in Hygiene and Environmental Medicine, as well as around 394 journal papers, 206 scientific articles in textbooks, monographs and volumes, 63 scientific pieces in conference proceedings and brochures, textbooks monographs and volumes.
